Project Estimation and Tendering - where it all starts

We take this step very seriously. After all, the tender is the basis for the project being a commercial success. It is something we just have to get right. At Syngineering, we provide experienced personnel for formalised Tendering and Estimating roles, to OEM's, Tier 2, Tier 3 Contractors, across the Mining and Energy; and, Petroleum and Gas Sectors. We have personnel competent in a variety of skills and expertise, including:

  • Developing Scope of Works for re-distributable packages for diversification of responsibility, accountability and authority of resource involvement;
  • Managing resources, subcontractor/supplier engagement and overarching tender deliverables.
  • Ensuring that estimates are executed in accordance with the client’s specifications and design brief.
  • Accommodating Heath, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements in tender submissions.
  • Scheduling engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Providing comprehensive handover packages to Project Execution Teams.
  • Analysing and commenting on proposed commercial terms of contracts.
  • Meeting tender deadlines for multi-stage Gate Review processes and Senior Management approvals.
  • Analysing and selecting the best suppliers and subcontractors available.
  • Constantly keeping informed with actual site costs.
  • Regulating the tender process and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Our team of experienced estimators, managers, engineers, draftsman, and tradesman take great care to ensure they fully understand your requirements. We then apply our thorough understanding of "real world" engineering, systems and methodologies to the tender at hand.

Engineering design and drafting — where the work begins

Combining years of experience with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards, we are able to draught a simple, but effective solution. For example, when it comes to machine safety — both electrical safety and machine guarding, we can help with the interpretation and application of Australian Standard AS4024.1101-2006 Safety of Machinery. Since this essential standard is 665 pages long, we are often approached to help companies discern those elements that apply to their situations. So, whether you have a quick question, such as "what is the maximum height from the floor and the bottom of the guard?" (The answer is 165mm, by the way) or if you need more extensive advice, give us a call. We REALLY know the standard and can help you with engineered solutions that will assist you with compliance.

Our team also believes in designing a solution around the needs of the people who are actually going to use it. That's why we take the time to discuss our design ideas with the people on the factory floor (where necessary). This assists in two ways:

  1. It ensures that our designs REALLY achieve the results and perform the tasks for which they are intended.
  2. It includes the people on the floor as an integral part of the process, which facilitates change management as these people have buy-in and are more inclined to cooperate and use the new technology once it is introduced.

Safety and Quality — turning ideas into reality

At the heart of their approach is an unwavering commitment to quality, and safety. Whether it's a complete new install, a modification or repairs to existing production lines, this commitment shows in every aspect of what we do — from our attitudes and behaviour on site, through our use of only fully accredited engineers, to the provision of certified compliant products.

Take for example handrails. We are well versed in the design, fabrication and certification of handrails. This type of work requires a thorough knowledge of the relevant Australian Standard (in this case, AS1657: 1992 Fixed Platforms, Walkways, Stairways, Ladders – Design, Construction and Installation). Our exceptional insight into the details of this long and complicated standard results in many clients calling upon our team to assist them in identifying those elements of the Standard that apply to their situations.

So, whether you have a quick question — such as "What is minimum height of a handrail?" (The answer is 1,000mm with 100mm of toe board or toe rail, by the way) or if you need more extensive advice, simply give us a call. We REALLY know the standard and can help you with engineered solutions that will assist you with compliance.

Installation and commissioning — making sure it all works together

Our clients tell us that one of the best things about dealing with Syngineering is that we are a single source that takes care of everything (from concept to compliance!). This makes it so much easier to get things done because there's much less paperwork (just the one purchase order to process), AND, more importantly, they're confident that the job will get done right. That's because they know there's just the ONE reliable, cohesive team working on it.

That's part of the synergy behind Syngineering — one team creating powerful solutions that make a BIG difference in the lives of our clients.

Electrical — bringing it to life

Electrical and system design is a big part of our service offering. For example, we design and build custom-made and modular built and modular switchboards as well as machine and factory automation systems.

Machine safety — both electrical safety and machine guarding — are important items on our list of services. We are especially well versed in the interpretation and application of Australian Standard AS4024.1101-2006 Safety of Machinery.

We also frequently work with PLC & DCS Systems, SCADA & HMI, and AC & DC Drives. The scope of our services includes project management, as well as electrical and mechanical installation and industrial maintenance.

CPEng RPEQ Certification — leaving you with complete peace of mind

As a busy factory/plant manager you've got a lot to think about. Compliance is a big part of your day-to-day concerns. You've already got plenty of people telling you where the gaps are in your workplace compliance, but there are very few (if any) around who are prepared to come up with cost-effective, practical solutions.

You need someone who'll help you find a solid solution for each item on the list, so you can rest assured your workplace meets all the relevant Australian standards for compliance. For example, when it comes to the design, fabrication and certification of lifting and spreader beams, we excel at the interpretation of the relevant Australian Standards (in this case, AS4991: 2004 Lifting Devices).

This essential standard is long and complicated, but we are able to draw our extensive knowledge of the standard and on the understanding we've gained of it through years of experience applying the standard in real-life situations. This means we're able to design, fabricate, install and certify any lifting or spreader beams you may require. And you can rest assured that they will comply with Australian Standards.

So, whether you have a quick question — such as "What is the proof testing load for a lifting beam with a 20 tonne Working Load Limit (WLL)?" (The answer is 298KN, by the way). OR if you need more extensive advice, give us a call.
